Moderately.

Another film that uses the concept of a fake documentary. Several have already been made, although I have the feeling that this is something that has only emerged in the last 15 years. I can often appreciate it, but this film uses a concept that just doesn't really work.

The main disadvantage is that it is not interesting at all. The images of the legend and the so-called finds that the team makes are among the more interesting aspects. However, these are only short pieces that fortunately create a special atmosphere. What it can't do is make the main character team more interesting for even a moment.

It's actually a bit boring. It has little to do with horror and is more like a mysterious thriller with a paranormal slant. Poorly acted, very bland ending and a concept that only has limited interest. I'll quickly forget how the film unfolds. I think above all that the horror itself is just missing too much.

It's nice how self-reflexive 'Butterfly Kisses' (2018) is in the way that you keep coming closer to reality through the images of others. With this design, it always raises the question whether you are looking at the sensationalism or madness of documentary makers, or whether the paranormal threat they are investigating actually exists. 'Butterfly Kisses' (2018) is also explicitly a film that places itself in discussions about fake news and conspiracy theories. What if spreading these images is more dangerous than it is of social importance? And what if reality is not believed by viewers? It's just a shame that 'Butterfly Kisses' (2018) doesn't really have an original or innovative approach. It's even a bit disappointing when Peeping Tom actually exists and the film ends like so many other horror productions. And without the fun of similar genre films, because due to the limited budget, a lot happens off screen.
