Hoogtijdagen plot

The Kola Peninsula, in the northwest of Russia, above the Arctic Circle, was gradually developed and mined after the Revolution of 1917, because of its rich mineral resources. Settlements and small towns arose, named after the raw material that was mined there: Apatite, Nikel, Titan. Drawn to the unknown, geologists and mining engineers from all over the Soviet Union continued to flock to the Far North, inspired by adventurous dreams of virgin lands and the ideals of a future Utopia.
