"Everyone ends up in the same damned place."
The period from the end of World War II to the 1960s. Willard Russell is a tormented war veteran who loses his wife Charlotte to cancer. Lovers Carl and Sandy Henderson are serial killers who target models. Pastor Roy and his right-hand man Theodore are on the run from the authorities. At the center of all this is Arvin Russell, the son of Willard and Charlotte.

A heavy dyke of a film, and the precise cinema I fall for. Much about this film feels really justifiable and just right, although of course it's never without flaws. Much of this film is almost flawless. The storyline was nondeju intense and certainly one of the best Netflix has produced in recent years. A sad fact that this has not been shown in the cinemas, I would have liked to see this in an art house and have it on disc.
It tells it in a very distinct, though very trackable order of scenes. The feeling I get here is a lot about faith and religion, although it was mainly about acceptance and forgiveness within the development of the main character who was allowed to be played by Tom Holland. A great performance by all the actors. Someone who is forcibly led astray while radiating the right intentions. Actions of an understandable nature and incomprehensible nature. A magnificent art-house trip that makes me think a lot if it could really be even more disturbing than it already is.

The period of the 50s and 60s are very nicely portrayed. These are 4 stories that eventually come together in the main story. The main story is about Willard Russell (Bill Skarsgård) and his son Arvin Russell (Tom Holland). Not a single moment during this film did I have Tom Holland say "ooohhh yes that guy from Spiderman", which means that he played his part very well. This also applies to the rest of the cast. Robert Pattinson who also managed to put down a very beautiful but dirty role. Do not expect a fast film, all stories are built up with peace of mind and therefore the film lasts more than 2 hours. But during that run-time, the film managed to keep me interested. Also a guiding principle in this film is clearly the faith that brought peace and madness to this story. A film that belongs in a movie house but can be seen on Netflix. Recommended? Absolute!!
