The Screwy Truant plot
Screwy Squirrel should be taking classes at school, but decides to skip school for the day. However, his truancy is discovered by a school attendance officer. He will do anything to get him back to school.

Fourth time Screwy Squirrel, fourth time 3.5* That pretty much sums up my rating of the hyperactive (and violent) squirrel. In this short, the squirrel decides to skip school and is chased by a Truant Officer (which is apparently a school attendance officer in Dutch), something that I think has also become extinct over the years. The truancy officer is of course going to try every possible way to get Screwy back to school. The consequences are to be expected and the resulting chaos is fun, albeit somewhat predictable. Nice cameo also from Red Hot Riding Hood and Wolfie from Swing Shift Cinderella that would be released the same year.

Pure chaos and that in the 40s, it could easily be a Nickelodeon video. With absurd humor and the use of the fourth wall. The story is very simple and the animation works mainly because of the speed of the many gags. Not the best Tex Avery, but I like the humor.
