Petite Nature plot
Ten-year-old Johnny is intrigued by the adult world. He lives with his mother in a social housing in Lorraine where he eagerly bites into her turbulent love life. While he conceives the idea of finding love for himself, he ends up in a new class.

Truffaut's "Les Quatre Cents Coups" is never far away...
Johnny is not given a decent upbringing as a child and is actually pushed into adult life.
It is violating nature and it leads to situations where people who mean well for him threaten to get into serious problems, which in turn sends him into a negative spiral.
