Disturbing, magical-realistic drama with dark fairy-tale elements that mainly hits the target thanks to the strong hypothermic acting of the protagonists and the self-confident direction. Visually it all looks beautiful, not least because of the sublime and completely convincing realization of the title character. I sat watching in fascination and was torn between endearment and horror. In any case, very nicely done.

A very narrow 2.5* for the beautiful images of Icelandic nature and the gloomy atmosphere that persists throughout the film. Furthermore, this was an absurdist and nonsensical slow burner, almost annoying. The film has the readability of a postmodern work of art, impenetrable and incomprehensible. Everyone just does something, there is no rationale behind it. Some may have tears in their eyes with emotion, but I had to make the greatest effort to sit through this drama completely.

What the hell is this supposed to mean? The film adaptation of an Icelandic fairy tale? You would almost think so. Only my attention was not there, but mainly to the images of the enchanting beautiful Icelandic nature. I immediately thought of that other Icelandic film "Hross í Oss" from 2013, which was also set in the Icelandic countryside and also contained such beautiful images. About the end of this movie; I didn't get that, but maybe that was the intention of the director in the first place.

3.0*
