Mediocre as a drama and as a disaster film. The film is immediately in and after the disaster (with some bad CGI) we only get to the characters. And that is clearly too late. Even though the moments in the exchange are okay, all those people simply couldn't interest me and the film mainly relies on that. Two hours is also too long for this since there is no run-up. 2.0*.

Docudrama about the Fukushima nuclear disaster caused by a tsunami. The film mainly focuses on the fact that thanks to the selfless efforts of the personnel, the total demise of the central part of Japan was prevented. It seems logical to me that emotions run high in such a situation. The film closes with a fitting warning about the power of nature.

After a tsunami engulfs a nuclear power plant in Fukushima in 2011, Toshio Izaki [Kôichi Satô] leads the reactor rescue effort. Watanabe plays the manager who gives orders from a communication center, barks at employees and uses the excuse provided by the scenario to explain things in more detail to the viewer. All the clichés from Irvin Winkler's disaster cycle are lumped together and pass by nicely, right up to the sentimental, heroic ending. If you haven't seen the disaster classics from the 60s and 70s (yet), then you can.
