Giulio, Gemma, Paolo and Riccardo are four friends since 1980 until now. They grew up together and went through puberty and adulthood together. They shared beautiful moments of hope and success, but also bad times of disappointment and failure. The ever-changing mutual relationships between three men and a woman who meet in the summer of 1982 and have fun together in the nearly 40 years that follow, argue, grow apart and, through a twist of fate, come together again. The storylines are a lot like a kind of compilation from forty years of As The World Turns and Pierfrancesco Favino really can't pass for a twenty-something anymore. Director/co-screenwriter Gabriele Muccino keeps the momentum going and Elo Molí provides enough beautiful pictures to prevent you from getting bored.

The feel good is already too much in the end.
A pity really, because previously there were many good moments in which feelings of happiness, disappointment, doubt and anger alternated, in a good staging anyway.
Heartwarming too, because friendship, despite everything, in 40 years, not so obvious, I would think.
Certainly enjoyable, this often more light-hearted comedy than a straight-up drama.
Good performances, without outliers, but everyone excellent in his role.

Quite a handsome coming of age of three bosom friends spread over 40 years in which world events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall or 9/11 also occasionally pass by. It is almost typically Italian how smoothly and juicy such life stories are told. Not as great as La Meglio Gioventù (Film, 2003), but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
At times perhaps rather soapy in terms of storyline, the acting however made up for a lot, as did the brisk pace. Favino I will have seen in many Italian films and can handle various roles and genres. That man has a real character. Santamaria was also not unknown to me.
A bit of feel good towards the end, which makes it seem rather forced. However, the three storylines develop well with and alongside each other. Fortunately, they are only really together and the moments that they did not find each other, they were rather lost. A film about friendship, love, hope and disappointment. Nice!
