Shortly before his permanent appointment as a teacher, it is revealed that Fabian Sorge tampered with his high school diploma as a young man. Because education is struggling with a lack of teachers, Fabian gets the chance to be appointed after all if he takes his final exams within the year. Fabian not only gets to know the world of adult education, but also immerses himself in the lives of his fellow students, who have all experienced adversity.
