Solid (BBC) drama about the demise of a friendship of many years as a result of backbiting in a neighborhood we know not. A deeply sad, but oh so recognizable story with a beautiful role by newcomer Roxanne Scrimshaw.

Lynn and Lucy are best friends who are having a good time despite their difficult social situation. Especially when they go out, they can let go of all their worries. Lynn is the older of the two and has low self-esteem. Lucy is a bit more loose and attracts a lot of attention from the menfolk.
Both are mothers, one was quite devoted, I had the impression, the other more as if it was an assignment. A tragic event puts an end to years of friendship. Lynn is forced to take a stand and certain actions become irreversible. She hangs out with other people who aren't her type, but she wants to fit in. People as surrogate friends knowing that they think little of her.
The film is interesting in how friendship can evolve. Not a multi-layered approach, yes, but still solid. The impact of the neighborhood is great. Everyone has their own opinion ready. We see a fraction of that here. Not the biggest film, but good to catch.
