Director Andrew Jones takes a different tack with The Utah Cabin Murders, as the ghosts are replaced by vicious and violent criminals. In a way, that can be quite scary and the film is often quite brutal in terms of concepting, but the rather bare and atmosphereless execution kills any form of tension. It also hardly helps that the acting is not great and the intensity cannot be effectively increased anywhere. Since there is a constant degree of danger and unpredictability throughout the film, it is quite entertaining and Jones fortunately ignores further endless content nonsense as much as possible. Cheap, but easy entertainment with too little visual quality to justify a higher score.
