It's never too late to realize your dreams. In any case, the main character Angus doesn't think so and, at the age of 75, with fragile health, he attempts to go on a private space flight.

It seems clear. With such an introduction, as a viewer you prepare yourself for a moving feel-good experience with very sweet characters to identify with, with unkind characters to contrast yourself with, with unfair adversity that makes your eyes moist and with righteous prosperity that also makes your eyes moist. moisten. And yes, it is indeed that kind of movie.

The film is quite sweet and sickly. I like that every now and then. From a film that delivers incredible and wonderfully predictable fare. I like to see a sweet film every now and then that offers a good counterbalance to the harsh, cynical, brutal and violent that most films today are seasoned with. It's wonderful to escape from the noise and commotion of everyday life with a sweet film like Astronaut. Wonderful to spend some time in completely different atmospheres. And, it's also wonderful to return to those detested atmospheres completely refreshed... Yes, Astronaut is not only a sweet, but also a functional film. It makes you feel completely better.

The film even contains the social message not to maneuver the older generation into a social sidetrack, but rather to make use of their knowledge and experience. Amazing, right?

The personification of that message is called Angus. Angus is played by Richard Dreyfuss who does so with inspiration. Dreyfuss plays a very amiable, modest and unearthly nice main character and is well able to disrupt the viewer's balanced state of mind with his sensitive performance. Mission accomplished.

Astronaut is a sweet, moving film that is absolutely unrealistic and absolutely very predictable. Nevertheless, it is above all a very sweet film that managed to strike an emotional chord with this viewer.

This was still a great movie. A beautiful drama with a great story. A bit predictable, but it certainly wasn't disturbing. The cast was excellent, especially the lead actor.

Furthermore, the playing time was fine, not too long and not too short.

I thought it was recommended.

No.

Dreyfuss is old, and you would think that fits with the story. But he's just too old, way too old for the whole thing to make any sense anywhere in the distance. And worse, he also acts way, way too old. As if he is already so demented that he no longer understands that he is, well, just way too old. And then all the nonsense and whining.

The rest of the cast doesn't fare much better, they just walk around a bit lifelessly. And nothing else makes sense - not the cinematography, not the shoddy effects, not a decent image anywhere, really. It mainly strikes me as an uninspired and loveless production just to push another film out the door, because the mortgage had to be paid. Or something.
