Ukhod Velikogo Startsa plot

A number of farmers ask Lev Tolstoy and his wife Sofia for part of their land. Tolstoy explains that his wife is in charge of land ownership and does not want to help the peasants. The issue continues to haunt Tolstoy, however, as he would like to do something for the peasants. This puts pressure on his relationship with his wife.
