Just when Marianne wants to step out of her lonely, gray life, a white-robed, silent man emerges from the water. She takes him home, where it soon becomes apparent that he is wanted. It doesn't matter to her. The oppressive, uniform world - with barbed wire fences and identity checks by armed men - is a lot more digestible with him and his warm body. Marianne will not let her happiness be taken away easily.
