Should have been my kind of movie, but it didn't really captivate me. The idea is nice, also those encounters with sex workers but the focus is always on little interesting things and that doesn't do the film any good. Often boring, reasonably acted but nothing special, visually occasionally nice but also a bit ordinary and in the end I felt the thing took too long. 2.0*.

Pretty okay.

Fairly tame, but also touching drama in which the focus is on an unfortunate main character, more than properly played by Mei Kayama. The film looks fine visually and, due to its approach, succeeds in showing not just 'the world', but 'the living world' of Yuma. Without getting really dramatic or tragic, a few moments can hit the right chord. Occasionally the overly shy Japanese squeak can disturb me, but that will mainly be due to me as a person.

Strong drama, which fortunately is not too heavy. The film has some tangents to Miss Hokusai, namely in the form of a young woman who draws, but needs to get to know physical love for her artistic development. At least, that's what it seems it initially turns out to be, but in the end it mainly revolves around a handicapped young woman trying to find her way in life. This is done in a beautiful, heartfelt way with good acting, especially from the lead actress who is really disabled in everyday life. At first I thought that her high voice would annoy me at some point, but luckily that wasn't too bad.

The images are neat, but not much more than that. A nice shot every now and then, yes. The soundtrack is a bit more striking, because electronic, but in a subtle way. All in all a very pleasant viewing experience. 3.5*.
