This was just average entertainment, nothing special, a movie that is a dime a dozen. The bad woman played quite well. I'm done with Tom Wilkinson, just put him behind the geraniums. The whole thing took a little too long due to a few long-winded scenes. And then the ending, lousy.

Still, overall just a pass from me.

Reasonable action movie. The story is all a bit far-fetched and not very realistic, but that is only a side issue with these types of Die Hard clones. The structure is nice and the film flows smoothly without any let-downs. There is plenty of action and tension. The action scenes also look good with excellent camera work. The special effects are also fine. The acting is quite average, but sufficient. Among all the similar genre films that have been released recently, this is quite a breath of fresh air. 3.5

The thin screenplay by Laurence Malkin and Andy McNab has little cinematic added value, other than the fact that it unnecessarily stretches this action film by director Magnus Martens. SAS: Red Notice is a typical film that considers itself smarter than it is, because you won't delve much deeper than a predictable hostage film. During the first half it is not entirely clear who is on which side, an element that seems to have arisen out of clumsiness rather than purpose. It is therefore difficult to cheer for anything, but once it is clear that Sam Heughan is playing the hero, it is still difficult to cheer, especially because his character is designed so simply. The design of each character is hopelessly caricatured and that results in poor acting and a lack of personality, only Ruby Rose manages to cope somewhat. In between there are some nice moments of action and a reasonable pace, but a playing time of 123 minutes is far too long for such a flawed feature.
