Jim Carrey plays his villainous role with his foot lightly on the brake pedal, so that the colorful - but above all megalomaniac - Ivo Robotnik never overshadows the hero of this story and regularly gets the laughs on his side. With San Francisco partly in ruins, the ending underlines a lack of logic that is, however, forgivable in this unpretentious yet entertaining SF comedy with a charismatic voice rendition of Ben Schwartz as Sonic and a screenplay that strikes the right balance between action , comedy and messages about the importance of friendship and family. Don't expect too much depth, but this is great entertainment for the whole family.
And on a personal note, the SEGA promo brought back memories of golden gaming moments for this 40-something!

Been with the kids. They did have a nice time.
I was mostly bored, Happy relationships where the enamel jumps off your teeth. A Jim Carrey without a brake. A slight satisfaction that he has now been reduced to a villain in a B-movie. Childish, but above all good humor. Actually, this is just another Herbie movie from 2020.

Nostalgia because as a child I played Sonic on my Sega for hours. Nice adaptation of the game. Graphically beautifully rendered. I just thought it was a bit emotionless. Attempts at sentiment did not touch me. It is more aimed at a young audience. It's nice to see Jim Carrey once again in his classic role of 'mad-mouth puller', although he has also had his best days in this area. Pleasant entertainment but not top notch…
