It's not the subject, but this personal film does raise the question: why do mothers allow their daughters to be circumcised? As a young girl, the Kenyan director Beryl Magoko, who lives in Germany, chose to be 'circumcised' herself, under pressure from peers. She thought it was just a rite of passage. Why didn't anyone tell her how painful and humiliating it would be? Now that she knows about the existence of reconstructive surgery, she doubts whether this is her chance to feel complete again. Or will she make another terrible mistake?
