Here is a positive sound.

I thought it was a nice and sympathetic film with a wonderfully campy '80's atmosphere and a nice smooth progression. It is not a full-blooded genre film, but a mix of Drama, Comedy, Thriller and Horror with which the director regularly changes tone and knows how to alternate and switch smoothly. Admittedly, the plot is here and there rather predictable, but that did not really matter.

Cast does a great job and clearly enjoys it, the ladies in particular. The 80s setting is cool and also quite detailed. The fitting soundtrack finishes it off. It's not really original, but it is certainly a nice and neat ode to the Teen Horror of yesteryear!

Nice.

Watched because a horror film with Knoxville deserves a viewing. I usually only know him from his roles in Jackass and a few supporting roles in action films. To see him now in a somewhat serious role in a horror film was special. Too bad he turns out to be mostly promotional material.

Knoxville has little screen time in this film. However, the film has a lot of other crew members who are certainly not unknown and have the necessary acting experience. The acting is therefore a strong plus in We Summon the Darkness. Hasson and Forsyth in particular do well. Daddario, however, disappointed me because she tries too hard to be crazy.

Visually it all looks colorful, but it stays safely within the lines at all times. The cinematography is solid and the images are sharp, but that's where it ends. In terms of gore and bloodshed it all falls short and the camerawork could have been a bit more intense. As a whole it also lacks some pace. Not a big flaw, but the pace is certainly not high enough in the second half to really be able to walk nicely.

We Summon the Darkness creates enough opportunities in the second half to become a really cool genre mix, but then chooses to act as safe and predictable as possible. As a result, the film only manages to use little of its potential and it still remains a result that you can completely predict from the start.

Fortunately, it is very watchable and the acting is fine, although Daddario disappointed me. The rest does a decent job and clearly has enough acting experience to play their roles. It is never a really wild film, and not hard either, but it is watchable for what it is now. A solid watchable film, but also a film that fails to take advantage of a lot of opportunities.

the build up is nice but the twist seems to have been placed there only for shock value, it doesn't work at all, there is also no tension build up, then it gets even worse when we see the boys acting from that moment on.

A few nice moments, unfortunately you can see what's going to happen to the cop from miles away, and when daddy comes home the same thing happens.
