Bougainville: Our Island, Our Fight plot
The island of Bougainville is part of the Northern Solomon Islands, but is politically seen as a territory of Papua New Guinea. For the last ten years, the people of this island have waged a guerrilla war with found weapons of war from World War II against the government forces equipped with more modern equipment. The government of Papua New Guinea has imposed a complete economic blockade of the island, in addition to an extensive campaign of aerial bombardment and violence against the civilian population. Bougainville: Our Island, Our Fight depicts the lives of the residents of Bougainville as they abandon their traditional coastal community to resort to a dangerous military conflict.
