Setback. Maybe that's why there is so much advertising with a star cast and 'exotic' director?

Found Farhadi's Iranian films to be quite good. Refined, nuanced, with a great sense of personal drama. However, this clearly involves concessions to attract a larger audience. A story that seems intriguing at first glance ends up being a big disappointment, with quite an anticlimax: the solution comes a bit out of the blue, isn't much of a shock, and then you wonder what you've been looking at all this time, because the family drama also hardly comes into its own as a result. There really could have been a lot more. Furthermore, quite mediocre camera work, and I wouldn't know why such stars were summoned for this. Darin in particular is a huge miscast. Unknown actors would have been much better suited for such a family drama.

So not really worth it. As far as I'm concerned, a failed transition to mainstream film.

Psychologically strong drama, more than a thriller or a soap opera. After an unexpected event, the wedding party is no longer a party. Suspicions and moral dilemmas gain the upper hand.

How many faces can one put on? And what is the true face of someone, even someone you think you know well? Who can really see into another's soul? How do people deal with that?

Raising these and other questions is fascinating.

Moreover, the actors are completely there. And certainly Penelope Cruz and her husband Javier Barden.

In an interview, Penelope Cruz says, "The movie is about relationships and the weight of the past and of secrets. It's a metaphor for society."

Unforgettable images such as in the clock tower (the time ...) will remain with you.

In the cinema room I was on the edge of my 'seat' / chair!!

(I'm not blind to negatives, but what I wrote above was the deciding factor in giving the movie 3.5 stars!)

Much better than I thought. My impression is that most consider it a crime mystery, a kind of plot variation like that of Murder on the orient express, or a whodunnit. But Fahradi is of course a filmmaker of family dramas and that also applies to Todos lo saben. The abduction is merely a catalyst to expose the mutual relationship of the characters. The great thing is that in addition to the main plot, all subplots also have their own conflict, without the film losing focus or feeling overloaded. Each time there is an interesting male-female dynamic in particular. There is also a social problem in the background: Laura's family, a family of old money, occupies a complex position in the village. There is a lot of old grief and grudges on both sides. It is made clear without getting caught up in it and gives a strong embedding to the more personal drama that plays out. And finally, the motif of the title, 'all know it', comes up several times in an interesting way. Some things seem to be known to everyone except the people who matter most. A very fascinating film in my eyes, somewhat the same viewing experience as The Philosopher and Sparrowhawk 27.
