Dark, not to say dirty, film about a father who lives isolated in a remote country house in the woods with his two sons and chases curious onlookers from the village from his property with his rifle. When he suddenly dies, the two children are left to their own devices. But they don't trust each other and have no idea what to do next. The mother died years ago and her death is surrounded by mysteries. The boys each try to unravel 'the secret' in their own way.

Nice and scary, you think. Well, that's disappointing. There's plenty happening already. The Americans would say 'Disturbing stuff', and even though it is a (French) Canadian film, it still exudes a North American atmosphere. In the distance, the film has some similarities with a film like 'Dogtooth' by Yorgos Lanthimos or with the work of Gaspar Noé. The two brothers' search for how to survive and the discoveries they make in the process is quite impressive. Only towards the end does some light come into the darkness and does it become clear what happened in the past and what the title refers to. This film is not a simple nonsense.
