An assertive farmer discovers that his water is polluted. He then gets into a fight with the psychotic owner of the responsible oil company. This collision has brought the entire oil industry into disrepute.

Interesting film based on true events. The pace is quite slow, but if you manage to get through the first hour, a pretty decent finale awaits. The cast is fine for this film. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Sheen. They could have left out some of the well-attempted humor; I didn't feel it really belonged there and it didn't land. The setting and overall atmosphere were good. Partly due to the successful ending and the not-too-long running time, this film ultimately scores well with me.

A decent drama, but nothing more than that. We know the story, and similar films have been made before, and better. The film tries to distinguish itself through lightheartedness and the inclusion of some humor. Unfortunately, combined with the heavy theme, that doesn't quite work out. Aside from that, the film is easy to watch but lacks an emotional ending. The victory doesn't really come as a surprise either. The acting is otherwise solid and elevates the film to a passing grade. It could have been better. 3.0

A cast of friends who are clearly having fun working together on a film that will never make it commercially, but does have a message: in the name of 'the economy,' our entire world is being poisoned. Or more concretely, the current method of oil extraction in the US is disastrous for groundwater.
Edward James Olmos has only become more likeable with the passing of the years. David Strathairn perhaps not, but in this film he doesn't irritate me at all. Bosworth doesn't have the kind of role we've come to expect from her, and wow, Aselton looks so much like Famke Janssen.
This film probably won't show anyone the light—that things need to change. And yet, the power of this message, too, lies in repetition. And perhaps there is a lost farmer in the US who recognizes himself in the fate of the old comrades—if he really managed to miss all those previous messages. But as the saying goes, even if you manage to convince just one person, you haven't lived in vain.
