The film takes a while to get going, and the first hour is inconsistent, but eventually it really takes off and doesn't let up. Many of the action scenes are completely over the top, but everything is shot so enthusiastically and coolly that you can't help but get caught up in the chaos. Okay, the finale is a bit on the tame side, but by then you're so worn down as a viewer that it hardly matters. Highly entertaining.

A good film in itself. But why they've Chineseized a potential American scenario is beyond me. That makes the whole film unbelievable. Apparently, they don't mind this copycat scenario. American ships, put a Chinese stamp on them, and voila, Chinese ships.

OK. That aside, it's a good film. Beautiful visuals and good action. Definitely worth watching. I wasn't bored at any point.

Banging until the bitter end.

Those who love a lot of action will find what they are looking for.

The entire military arsenal is on display: mortars, grenades, snipers, drones, tanks, warships, and so on. It almost feels like a propaganda film, designed to demonstrate that the Chinese truly have everything they need to help their citizens out of trouble abroad. The military display comes at the expense of character development and story. That was inevitable. The characters are clichéd military figures, and the story is nothing more than rescuing hostages from the clutches of Arab terrorists who have just staged a coup.

I felt a bit dizzy from the excessive, nonstop action, with limbs literally flying around, but I have to admit it looks really good. The images were crystal clear and of superb quality.
