Lemonade plot
Mara, a young Romanian woman, has just moved to the US with Dragos, her 9-year-old son. She marries Daniel, an American she met only a few months ago. The film follows her through a series of revealing encounters over one day; from her babysitting issues, her unplanned and awkward encounter with a US immigration officer, to dealing with the police about her son she had to leave behind in a motel room and troubles with the bank over a loan with her husband.

Those who do not meet the requirements for the coveted 'green card' have little future as an immigrant in the US. The lottery system where you literally get a residence permit via a random wheel picker is not exactly something you should hope for.
Single mother Mara changes tack and marries an American. However, the government sees it as a sham marriage. And there is something to be said for that, because the story is not very credible. It also makes Mara particularly vulnerable. Due to her unstable residence situation, she comes up against the limits of the system and is further abused.
Solid and interesting film, but not enough to really break through I think. The fact that I am the first to write something down only confirms this.
