Nice film, which I mainly see as a parable. After all, it all happens just too quickly in such a single summer, but it is well captured. To me, this is a knee-jerk movie that is often made for conservatives, including by more progressive people. Strong examples are the women who teach girls household chores, but also teach them to make chewing gum that you know that those women remember once too young to drink. You wonder, why do you go along with that old-fashioned way of thinking? Or even worse, grandmother without a headscarf who goes outside to punish the children, sees a neighbor with a headscarf and puts her shawl around her head as a kind of reverence. Never that the other person will say: you know what, I will go more into the future and adapt myself and the curtain will go down. But if there's one thing you shouldn't do, it's listen to people with backward ideas, but laugh at them and quickly run the other way. Then leave them.

The film is absolutely carried by the five young actresses who are wonderfully natural and even the youngest does not know how to irritate. In addition, especially Akdogan is a beautiful girl to see. The atmosphere is nice and summery, the weddings are beautifully portrayed and although the ending is somewhat fleeting and easy-going, the images of Istanbul in the early morning are fantastic. Also one of those first shots, with the beach and behind it only sea and one horizontal line of the surf, is beautiful. Perhaps I would have liked to taste a little more atmosphere of the village, because that was not discussed very much. The film is actually too short. 3.5*.

A sad story about a theme that has already been filmed several times.
Don't venture into social, cultural or religious considerations, but one thing is certain, love from the "educators" for the teenagers is not there, witness the denial of meanwhile, the preaching of moral values, but is since no sexual abuse is suggested and if one of the girls takes their own life, there is no awareness that something is fundamentally wrong with their way of parenting.
Endearing image of the five teenage girls behaving really amazingly well in front of the camera. Especially the little Lale is overwhelming.
If this is the filmmaker's debut, then hopefully more good film work can be expected from her.

A film that is just a little too easy as an indictment of the conservative, woman-oppressing countryside of Turkey (as Erdogan wants all of Turkey): everyone knows that and how in cultures like these young women are oppressed, such as through early marriage of girls , and the film shows that theme in an unoriginal and surprising way. What saves the film as a drama is that current (Muslim?) cultures are extremely violent (not comparable to e.g. The Bible Belt) – I remember another film in which a Muslim girl is pushed into the road by her family as an honor killing so that she gets run over by a car – so that the girls are literally risking their lives by acting rebellious and that makes the movie a little more exciting.
