The Tribes of Palos Verdes plot
"Life comes in waves."
Medina moves with her family to "paradise" in Palos Verdes, California, where they begin a seemingly new and happy life. When the marriage between Medina's parents doesn't seem to last, her mother finds herself in an emotional spiral and Medina's twin brother Jim turns to drugs. Medina is right in the middle of it all and has to act as the stable force within the family. She finds refuge in surfing.
