Luna plot
Luna, a smart, composed and carefree 17-year-old, spends her summer vacation in an idyllic mountain chalet with her family, until their stay suddenly turns into a nightmare. Foreign men take the family hostage and kill her parents and little sister, while she herself barely manages to escape, being chased by the killers. She soon finds out it was all lies: her father was a Russian secret agent and their warm family was just his cover. When he was discovered by the German BND and did not want to betray his comrades, he signed the death warrant for Luna's family. Luna finds refuge for the time being with the quiet, lonely Hamid.

Inspired by the true story of a Russian spy couple who lived undercover as a married couple in Germany for over 20 years. The premise of this film is the murder of a Russian spy who kept his true activities hidden even from his family. Along with the spy, the rest of the family perishes as well. Only daughter Luna survives. And she wants revenge. It is a rewarding subject for a film. The idea that someone you have spent your entire life with is actually someone else adds some juicy depth and depth to the quest from the outset.
Unfortunately, director Khaled Kaissar fails to make Luna a particularly suspenseful film. The most striking element is the intro in which the murder of the family is undertaken. A scene in which Luna wonders to what extent her father was truly himself in relation to her, rather than playing a role, also makes an impression. Unfortunately, the attention given to her question (which I found intriguing) is minimal. Such musings are quickly pushed aside by the action and thriller elements that carry more weight in the film. As a result, the characters remain rather one-dimensional. And that is a shame. The character of Luna, in particular, has more potential than her manifestation as a flat character who, for no apparent reason, develops into a seasoned and tough action heroine.
The story is barely engaging. It very quickly devolves into the usual cliché situations you encounter in every average thriller or action movie, including gaps in logic and dim-witted behavior from the characters. The camerawork and acting are good. Also good is the running time, which ensures the film wanders off into few or no side paths and is easy to watch compactly, which reasonably camouflages the film's overall dullness. And that is quite an achievement.
