Alice is a ghostwriter for a famous bestselling author. She is working on his new book when suddenly she can no longer write. A year earlier, she was in a coma for two weeks after she had a terrible accident in Malta. When she wakes up, she has lost part of her memory and has no recollection of the accident and her stay in Malta. Since then she has been depressed and has recurring nightmares. Her husband Max convinces her to go back to Malta in the hope that something will unblock her mind so she can go back to work to meet her publisher's deadline. At the beautiful villa in Malta, the couple are welcomed by a dazzling Mediterranean girl Sara who Max has hired to help around the house. Sara immediately gains Alice's trust and a close friendship develops. Everything seems fine until Alice begins to remember more and more about what actually happened in Malta.
