Salavat Yulayev plot

Salavat has to leave his native village because of the abuse of an officer of the king. The fugitive convict Khlopusha helps him flee from the soldiers, but Salavat does not trust Khlopusha because he is Russian. In the prison camp they nevertheless become friends and eventually manage to escape. After two years of wandering through the Urals, they meet the Cossack leader Pugachev, for whom they want to fight.
