"Home is a war away"
'Sand Castle' follows a military unit that has to repair a water system in an unsafe Iraqi village called Baqubah. Some villagers appreciate their arrival, but there are residents who perceive their proximity as hostility. They would rather see them leave and are prepared to use force.

Reasonable video about a number of soldiers in Iraq who find themselves in a hopeless situation. The gameplay isn't bad and it looks quite nice, but the action isn't spectacular either. The ending is a little disappointing. So reasonable, but nothing more.

I often got a Jarhead feeling while watching. This movie has some of that. But Sand Castle also has the limitations I've seen before in Netflix Originals (while I've only jumped on that bandwagon since February) - it's well acted by Nicholas Hoult, and it's quite skillfully done, but it transcends it again. not the reliability. There is always something missing, which never really leaves a (deep) impression. A few weeks ago I saw another Netflix Original, The Siege of Jadotville, also about a silly conflict, and that movie is perfectly similar to this one. They can easily be included in a list of well-made films that you will soon forget.

Nice war movie. Her story is realistic and well developed by Ciombra. The film does follow the familiar paths. Drama is neatly and timely interspersed with some action scenes. Those scenes look decent and are also quite exciting. Other than that, it's all pretty solid without any surprises or memorable moments. The acting is adequate. Visually, the film also looks good. Good movie, but nothing special. 3.0/3.5
