Children Are Not Afraid of Death, Children Are Afraid of Ghosts plot
Four siblings, ages five to fourteen, commit suicide together by drinking pesticide: what drives children to such an act of desperation? Documentary maker and artist Rong Guang Rong traveled to the village where the drama was set in 2015, just after the horrific events, in the hope of finding an answer to that question. However, he was not received in a friendly manner: he was arrested, intimidated and sent away, and his footage was confiscated. Nevertheless, he managed to complete his film, resulting in an experimental and poetic documentary in which the film-maker, mainly on the basis of his own children, fears and dreams, reflects on the demons in the lives of the four brothers and sisters: hunger, poverty, insecurity. , parents who have abandoned them and the indifference of everyone around them.
