The lover of the 'better film' could probably talk for hours about this film about the profound messages and so, but thought it was rather a sleep-inducing boring film with endlessly agonizingly slow camera shots.

Never in my life have I seen anyone eat cake for minutes in a movie under the guise of art and got a kick out of the pseudo-intellectual speech about 'the seeming futility of everything when placed against the context of time'.

I'm afraid I'm not 'alternative' enough and I don't have enough intellectual baggage for this arthouse film.

I completely missed this wonderful film at the time, probably because I didn't immediately catch on to a title like A ghost story (or The green knight). Anyway, this turns out to be very stylish arthouse and Lowery has the gift to suck you directly into the film with his images. I don't know exactly what it is, but it was immediately clear that this was right (while over the weekend with a film like Crossroads (1986) I had exactly the opposite experience: that you are immediately broken bored without knowing why). Very nice atmosphere with that frame, especially in the beginning the subdued colors and later when there is more light and color then it also has an immediate impact. But I think the driving force is the soundtrack. Great, both the use of sound and the music, again entrusted to Daniel Hart. From the halfway point on, the film changes setting/form a few times, but everything still feels like a unit, also thanks to the infinite melancholy of the ghosts. I found the feeling that the film portrays very powerful and really came in. Already looking forward to more work from Lowery/Hart (Peter Pan & Wendy is already in post production) .

PS. Casey Affleck knows how to sort them out. In terms of acting, it's not much here, but with Gerry, Manchester by the sea, A ghost story and [i]Light of my life[ /i] four x four anyway!
