Quite a romanticized drama, this time set against the backdrop of the German invasion of Russia, and we follow a partisan camp carrying out sabotage actions against the Germans—a romanticized pro-Russian portrayal of the harsh climate of the time, which comes across as rather strange, because barely two years later, such a pro-Russian film would no longer be allowed to be made from a Western perspective.
Moreover, the conditions and atrocities were many times worse than depicted here, and the romanticization of the war from an American perspective (certainly on the Eastern Front) is quite misplaced.
Other than that, it is a decent drama, but nothing more than that.
