"Hope Runs Deep"
Nearly five years ago, a gold and copper mine in Chile collapsed. 33 Chilean miners are trapped 800 meters underground. Many people are glued to the TV when a rescue operation is set up. Finally, after 69 days, the rescuers manage to free the miners.

Film that mainly draws on the Chilean mining disaster of 2010, which naturally means that this print contains a number of sensational events. However, Riggen takes a rather lifeless approach, and uses a particularly slick film style that makes the emotional moments quickly feel contrived. Also the little sharp dialogues, sometimes shaky acting performances and repeating pan flutes did not help in that respect.

Still quite fresh in the memory this spectacular mining disaster with a lot of human suffering, which has been represented quite well.
The recentness of the event may relieve some of the tension, but is still compelling enough to see the rescue step by step and the story surrounding some of the miners in a non-documentary. Some famous names among the actors, such as Banderas, James Brolin and (surprisingly) Julitte Binoche.

Played this one too and thought it was a great drama. The film was well done to keep you interested from start to finish. The cast also did a great job and came across convincingly.
Other than that, the movie looked great.
Despite the longer running time, the film was not boring either.
A great movie and worth watching.
