Iracema - Uma Transa Amazônica plot
In the 1970s, during the military dictatorship in Brazil, a major highway was built to make areas in the Amazon forest more accessible. What starts as an ambitious and noble project soon degenerates into irresponsible savings, ecological abuses and exploitation of the local population. Iracema, a 15-year-old Indian hooker, meets a smooth truck driver on the highway and hopes to start a new life with him.
