Mwa.

Slasher wrapped in a rather unusual environment, one I've never seen before. GirlHouse takes place in a house where ladies take off their clothes for the digital audience. I'm sure there are films in this line, but I've never seen anything like this before. Quite funny, you see something new in a tired genre.

Too bad the film draws most of its power from the concept. The opening is fairly gray, but the film takes on a different tone after the first 10 minutes. The setting I mentioned earlier works for a while. After that, the film really starts to become boring, and it takes a long time before the slasher really gets going.

Those who also look for nudity will be disappointed. You would think that these kinds of films would go completely crazy with nudity, but Knautz keeps most of it safely off screen. You will see some zoom-ins on body parts, but nothing explicit. I personally like this better, but I can understand that the audience that watches it specifically won't love it.

The film is quite long for such a simple set-up and limits the social criticism to only a number of scenes. GirlHouse tries to be a mix between horror, thriller, drama, romance and comedy, but none of them really work well. The only factor that works very well is the role of the murderer, played wonderfully by Slaine.

The third act, where the killing begins, has some nasty kills, but the bloodshed continues to be delivered safely. Visually everything is neatly presented with excellent cinematography and nice filters, but otherwise this film disappointed me. Knautz plays his cards too safe for such a concept and that takes away from the experience. It works as entertainment, but that's pretty much where it ends.

Girlhouse

This was quite a fun slasher! Quite a unique setting too. A few beautiful women in a house with webcams and a psycho with a tender soul who only needs to be hurt for a moment and you have the dolls dancing. You don't have to watch this film for Oscar-worthy acting, it really wasn't that good, but the gore was depicted fairly well. If you like slasher films where the story/acting doesn't really interest you, then this one is definitely worth a watch.

Considering the original setting, the opening scene with the children, a few beautiful ladies, the smooth flow, the nice gore with a few brutal kills and some nudity, you can rate this simple horror film a bit above average. The psychotic killer is not that captivating, but his quick, brutal actions do give him something unpredictable. The main character Kylie (Ali Cobrin) is an attractive lady who is constantly filmed in a careful manner so that she is not naked in front of the camera. Sometimes in very strange camera angles, even a bit lame considering the concept of the film. But oh well, there are other ladies who you can see naked who register for video content from an 18+ website. Seems a bit logical to me considering the concept. So you see the blonde Devon (Alyson Bath), Heather (Elysia Rotaru), the ginger Mia

(Nicole Arianna Fox) and the sensual Janet (Chasty Ballesteros) pass by naked. Unfortunately, the beautiful Anna (Zuleyka Silver) and Kat (Alice Hunter) also remain somewhat in the background. The horror film has a few nice kills and is easy to watch for an amusing movie night. More than average, but 3.5* would be a bit exaggerated. So 6.5/10
