Tight enough as far as I'm concerned. Film looks good visually, Herzog is also entrusted.

Story drags a bit at times, but you soon get that with a film that takes place almost entirely in the desert. Kidman acts decently, but seems a bit miscast in terms of age, so that her love affair with Franco does not seem credible for a moment. Patterson with a tea towel on his head comes across as laughable. All in all a film of which you can say: if the subject does not interest you, then by all means shoot it.

Beautiful filming of a life story. Fortunately, not quite chronologically. Kidman shines well in certain moments. The scenes are beautiful but sometimes very slow. As a result, you sometimes lose attention and the film is a long sit.

Anyone who believes that films by Werner Herzog are never boring will be disappointed after seeing this reconstruction of the life of British Empire writer, archaeologist, explorer and diplomat Gertrude Bell [Nicole Kidman] who played an important role in the British Empire. played in the foundation of Iraq in the years after the First World War. This film follows Bell during her travels through the Middle East. There is also attention for the men in her life: Henry Cadogan [James Franco], her first great love; TE Lawrence [Robert Pattinson], the man she worked with to unite the Arab tribes; and Dick Doughty-Wylie, a married man with whom Bell had an affair. Kidman is perfect for the role and Peter Zeitlinger provides beautiful pictures, but I have the impression that Herzog is more concerned with a documentary about the landscape and records more than directs. If you compare this with Lawrence Of Arabia, where this could have been a lot like, this unfortunately comes off very badly. So a huge disappointment.
