Efekt Domina plot
The dilapidated waterfront pier in the Abkhaz capital Sukhumi is one of many silent witnesses to the state of the former Soviet state. It was once a holiday paradise for wealthy Russians, but since big brother Russia left the country, the Abkhaz has been unable to put the coastal state on the Black Sea on the international map. The Minister of Sports wants to change that by bringing the world championship domino to the capital, an ambition that he will not be tempered by the constantly recurring power cuts. At home, the minister tries to reassure his Russian wife, who left her daughter and her singing career to live in Abkhazia, but is treated there as a second-class citizen. Together they embody the difficult relationship between the two countries.
