Conquer Hollywood and then the rest of the world. Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus had big ambitions when they bought the ailing Cannon Films in 1979. Over the next decade, the Israeli cousins built a veritable B-movie factory, releasing a film almost every week. Fixed ingredients: explosions, a lot of female nudity, wafer-thin scenarios and minimal budgets. While Cannon has also achieved artistic success with the Oscar-nominated Runaway Train, among others, the name is synonymous with the kind of action movies that dominated video library offerings in the 1980s.
