Anthony DiBlasi's directing career alternates between powerful cinema and soulless pictures. Of course, not every director can have a direct hit with every project, but Wuthering High is just painful to see done by someone like DiBlasi. The leading role, played by Paloma Kwiatkowski, looks disinterested and expressionless. It's hardly an interesting character to keep the attention for 90 minutes, but many side characters are also neglected. James Caan does a good job, but in this way he is pushed to the background and barely involved in the story. Andrew Jacobs does what he can, but unfortunately he can't do much with the predictable and downright questionable script. Where Wuthering High will at least look away for a long time as a quickly put together but sometimes distinctive TV drama, the story treads a truly ridiculous path towards the finale. It is difficult to sympathize with the events within this film, because each character is brought to life as unsympathetically and caricatured as the other. As a viewer, I had absolutely no sympathy for the final denouement.
