"Where do you draw the line?"
The Shift is set during a 12-hour emergency room night shift where veteran nurse Kayle struggles with his drowned brother's haunting guilt. Nevertheless, he has to train the new nurse Amanda. During this service, we see the ethical differences between the two. Kayle believes in doing what's best for his patients, even if it means letting them die. That is contrary to Amanda, she believes that you have to fight to the death for patients. During their night shift, they treat several patients, but the girl named Emily makes them question their way of working. Emily is dying of cancer and has come to the emergency room due to an infection. Kayle and Amanda are accompanied by Floyd (Danny Glover), but when Emily's situation suddenly takes a serious turn, they are forced to make impossible decisions.
