A film that seemed very realistic to me personally, I really did not expect that the actress who plays the young Minnie was 22 years old when she played this role. Understandable, by the way, since several scenes go very far.

The Diary of a Teenage Girl also takes advantage of the time the story takes place, the soundtrack is packed with great 60s songs and that certainly enhances the atmosphere in my opinion.

Minnie is not an everyday cliché character and because of that I could empathize more with her character.

Some characters (such as her friend or the stepfather) could have been developed a little more deeply, but apart from that I really enjoyed myself with this rather daring coming of age movie.

4*

Nice coming of age movie of a teenager who wants to develop her sexually and doesn't think it would be better to test this out on her mother's sweetheart. Nice scenes, dialogues and plot development. Funny, embarrassing and budding at times, knowing that sooner or later things will go wrong.

Especially enjoyed the first part of the movie. From the moment it was known to the mother - strange reaction from her by the way - I was allowed to end it. Furthermore, a strong role of the daughter who clings to her great love at her own "teenage level", but can rarely if ever estimate the impact or consequences, but at the same time starts to cry when things don't go the way she wants.

Those animations are great, fitting within the film and framing within a teenager's diary. Although insignificant or meaningful, I would certainly like to come forward even more emphatically.

I actually expected more from this movie. The atmosphere is good and there is also good acting. The lead actress does have charisma and a beautiful and special look in her eyes. The design with the comics is also very nicely done. But unfortunately the story is a bit too thin and focuses too much on sex in my opinion. That's too bad. For a long time the film was also at 2.5 stars for me. Fortunately, the ending was a bit stronger and that made the film a satisfactory one for me. But if the element of her comic-drawing career had been developed a bit better and had been more balanced with the sex in terms of quantity, the film could certainly have scored higher. It didn't take that much.
