The script was written in 2004 but drastically changed by producer DartaiTurner who placed himself into center of what he hoped would be a film like indecent proposal but Carter and Hoang the actual couple (both in film as extras) we’re both strippers at Treasures a upscale club not the seedy place used in the movie. Dark and some brief nudity. Hoang did get a rich white sugar daddy. This version Turner (debut as actor) plays a drug dealer pretends he more than he is (film producer and music label owner) actually has former partners of rappers and hip hoppers he helps finance (launder money) but he impressed the lady star called Monica and even went to a Hollywood rap party. She loves the attention and money (Chicago the dealer has plenty of and Rolls Royce they spent a lot of time in along with his apartment) along the way fiancée Kevin gets ignored and even belittled by both Monica and Chicago. Also the dying father who’s medical bills were the reason Monica is a stripper and later sugar baby to Chicago. Monica learns he’s a fake and controlling narcissist. Ending matched real story but reviewers thought it was soapy. Turner invited all his friends to be in the movie which made it surreal. More scene time for black artists than the couple. Remar and Hemingway do good job along with Corbin especially facial expressions when confronted by Chicago (egoism)and Kevin (anger on catching Monica lying, etc.) Asian and black interracial couple would have been more interesting. But we get “jungle fever” as Kevin says after affair with Aubrey’s character following Monica being caught hiding her tysts with Chicago. Dialogue between couple were too abbreviated and much left unsaid which hurt the story line making more dramatic moments. A lot of unfaithful girlfriend movies with same dynamic of flirting then indiscrete behavior. Here is was too strange. Monica knew Chicago was not what he seemed and constantly ignored good advice and warnings from many people. Even if she only had sex after breaking up her bad behavior before hand was still cheating. That was the story in a nutshell.
