Meh, generally my humor not so.

Only Ray Wise still manages to entertain as a testosterone-filled redneck, but Matthew Gray Gubler is almost annoying in the lead role. Kat Dennings does a lot better in that regard, but maybe a mistake by the script writers. I didn't really have the idea that her character really had any added value, except maybe some eye candy for the male audience (apologies ladies, not meant to be sexist).

In addition, the CGI effects as mentioned above are indeed not of the best quality. In that respect you can almost compare this movie with all those SyFy Channel movies.

Not funny as well as frightening and partly because of that not a successful horror/comedy as far as I'm concerned.

Shockingly bad. I could not taste the humor at all and in the field of horror .... well?

The protagonist is obnoxious and what Kat Dennings is doing here is beyond me. 1 point left for her. 1/10

Half.

From director Bates Jr. I still had Excision in mind. That movie was pretty special a year ago. In any case, Bates Jr continues his special career with this film, but in a different way. As far as I'm concerned, the result is worth the same grade.

Visually quite okay. The CGI is indeed not too good, but Bates Jr manages to compensate for this with funny sets and colorful environments. It reminded me a little bit of Blue Velvet in terms of atmosphere and environment, but more emo-like. Wouldn't surprise me if the movie got its inspiration from there.

The horror is also filled in special enough. It doesn't want to be all that scary, but it quickly manages to be. Too bad the CGI kind of wrecks it, and Bates Jr isn't very creative with the villains. This is another oops-I-released-the-ghost story.

Sometimes fun things with the horror, but the humor is questionable. Static acting by Gubler and too easy acting by Dennings. I'm getting tired of those tough guys. The moment of the poster is also such a scene that should not have been included. The humor isn't funny anyway.

It's not as trippy or crazy as Excision, by the way, visually Bates Jr holds back a bit in that area. But it is all colorful and special. Unfortunately, the horror is just a bit too tame and the humor just not that nice. Thanks to the look, I give it another 2.5*. I also think that with smoother editing and more striking use of the camera, it could have worked much better.
