The movie reminded me a bit of Ocean's Eleven and Catch me if you can. Focus is above all a fun film that is beautifully made. But unfortunately it takes a very long time before something really happens. The script is too weak for that. Fortunately, Robbie and Smith are having a good time and are still making good. The film leans a little too hard on the plot twists, and they aren't strong enough to sustain the entire film. But the film is still slightly better than the average score here suggests.

Nicky "Mellow" Spurgeon [Will Smith] is the youngest member of a family of scammers who first unmasks novice con artist Jess [Margot Robbie] and immediately reveals a lot of professional secrets. “Die with the lie” is his motto, but there is not much else to notice in this episodic, poorly developed crime comedy that relies entirely on the charisma of the two stars. Fortunately, that's all right and Robbie gets away with what is in fact the role of a 'dumb blonde', as only men (in this case the directors) dare to think of.

Represents little. Film about a couple of swindlers, in which an uninteresting romantic sauce is poured over. I'm already not very fond of films where criminal practices are portrayed as cool, to add to that the dialogues consist of lies and half-truths almost throughout the film. And so this film itself lost a lot of focus by wanting to bet too much on all kinds of twists. That one scene with the gambling Chinese at the horse races was the best in the movie for me. That's where I let catch me., and that's where it works! Many good words for Margot Robbie, who is not only very beautiful but also very talented. Fortunately, we no longer see her in these kinds of films and she now chooses real character roles. The pervert Farhad provided the comic relief. Every now and then something good flares up in this movie, but it's not enough to lift it out of the quagmire of mediocrity. 2.5*
