A group of old friends are reunited at a funeral. There, under the influence of alcohol, they make a pact. Instead of allowing each other to suffer a slow and painful decline, they would like to arrange a dignified death. In short, they will help each other die when the time is right. Saw the first two parts and had my reservations after part 1. Of course very good acting and the story will certainly appeal to older people with the same problems, but I thought it was over after two parts: gloomy and anti-climax in terms of storylines. The moral is beautiful: faithful until death, but after part 1 you can draw the rest: who is next? Especially a lot of pain, decline and heavy secrets. Tastes differ, fortunately.

After a friend's funeral, a group of friends decide to help each other with the end of life, when the time comes. Truelove is a six-part British euthanasia drama with excellent actors but a rather thin story. A bit of comedy to keep it from being too heavy and some thriller elements cannot hide the fact that Truelove mainly falls short in terms of drama. The credibility also feels artificial in the complex issues surrounding euthanasia. That does not alter the fact that the ensemble of top actors does a great job. 'Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return'. Truelove certainly offers food for thought.
