First and foremost, the makeup department deserves a compliment because they managed to make Kenneth Branagh look like Boris Johnson. They even got his post-apocalyptic haircut right. The actor has mastered the style of speech, the mannerisms and the clumsy movements.

Boris Johnson was the elephant in the china shop of British politics. He made undiplomatic statements, had an idiosyncratic style and daring humor. He was also an intellectual who wrote books and quoted Shakespeare.

The series stays close to the news. It is mainly about the corona crisis. The British took less strict measures than other countries to spare the economy. We see Boris shaking hands even though that was already forbidden. He himself became seriously ill. The parts in retirement homes and hospitals slow down the pace somewhat. Other aspects of his political career could have been discussed more.
