The Plot against America plot

In 1940, Charles A. Lindbergh, a heroic aviator and rabid isolationist, is elected president in place of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Shortly afterwards he negotiates with Adolf Hitler, which results in a good relationship. Meanwhile, the new government embarks on a program of anti-Semitism. For a boy growing up in Newark, Lindbergh's election is the first in a series of misadventures that threaten to destroy his small, safe part of America - and with it his mother, his father and his older brother.

The slow pace, the many characters and the 'polygon'-like images from the cinema make the first two episodes more like a dramatized documentary than a 6-part historical drama series. An alternative history (a little bit The Man In The High Castle), that is, that is also very current. In episode 3, the series starts to come alive. It remains a typical American story: smooth, nicely dressed and neatly within the lines. I expect a little more from screenwriter and producer David Simon (The Wire).
