The Fosters plot

The Fosters is a gripping drama series about a multi-ethnic family of biological and foster children. The children are raised by two mothers, Stef Foster, a devoted policewoman, and Lena Foster, a high school vice principal. They have a close, loving family with Stef's biological son Brandon, from a previous marriage, and their adopted twins, Mariana and Jesus. Their lives are disrupted when Lena meets Callie. Callie is a teenager who has lived a violent life. She has lived with different foster families all her life. Lena and Stef take Callie in. They thought it would only be for a few weeks until a more permanent residence would come for her. What happens next leaves Lena and Stef with a choice whether to give Callie a chance, and whether there's room in their home—and their hearts—for another foster child.

The Fosters season 3

A series with many possibilities, but in which I have the idea that these possibilities are not used optimally. Overall, there's plenty going on, but certain things, like the love between Callie and Brandon, are terribly milked out. This could have been better and I think it should have been to keep the entire series interesting. It's all quite predictable. I think this season is the first where a climax has actually been worked towards, this concerns the broadcast The Show. I haven't seen the last episode of course, but I doubt the season finale will get any better than this episode. Beautiful, well-crafted episode.

All in all, I think 3.5* is deserved for this season. I had it at 3*, but working towards the climax and working it out certainly deserves an extra half a point!

The Fosters season 1

The Fosters is not a bad series but you have to be able to handle sweets and political correctness. All minorities must be portrayed and then also portrayed as praiseworthy and sympathetic. Gays, transgenders, children's home children, undocumented dreamers, ghetto boys and ex-addicts everything is reviewed and oh they all had a hard time but luckily thanks to the help of the mixed lesbian couple Foster-Adams everything will be okay because everyone deserves a second opportunity because everyone has the right to a good life. That may well be the case, but unfortunately the reality is different and so this series loses any form of realism and excess certainly harms political correctness. It seems that Sylvana Simons and Jesse Klaver wrote the screenplay for this series together. There is now also a spin-off titled Good Trouble.
